Our client is in constant evolution specializing in  the production of full CG feature films. They are looking for a Lighting / Compositing Technical Director whom will be the key person for all technical questions in the animation department.

The position requires strong software development skills, an ability to program tools that are robust, efficient and easy to maintain.

MANAGEMENT:

• Define the needs with the Light / Compositing Supervisor;
• Validate the work with the Lead R&D; Execute the corrections requested by the R&D Lead with an analytical mind;

DEVELOPMENT:

• Develop work methods, tools and solutions related to the different disciplines;
• Develop, maintain and support Light and Comp pipeline tools (front-end); Document tools and code;
• Technical support and training for artists;
• Maintain the tracking system;
• Inform the coordination, the light / comp supervisor and the Lead R&D of the progress of the work.

• Hold a degree in computer science or 3D animation or the equivalent in work experience;
• Have at least two (2) years of experience in a production environment;
• Have an understanding of production technologies and processes;
• Ability to identify and solve problems;
• Skills in Python and Qt; Master rendering software (RenderMan, Arnold, Guerilla…);
• Knowledge of Nuke;
• Knowledge of Guerilla or Katana are assets;
• Knowledge of English and French both orally and in writing;
• Be a Canadian citizen or have permanent resident status in Canada or have a valid work permit and be willing to work in Montreal, Quebec.
