Job description

Under the supervision of the Assistant Corporate Controller, the Analyst will be responsible for preparing financial reports in accordance with IFRS standards and Canadian regulations for TSX-listed companies. This position offers potential for career progression and learning opportunities under the supervision of a management team experienced in the mining sector.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Prepare periodic financial statements and all accounting deliverables, while ensuring quality control of the information produced.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly analysis of financial statements.
  • Compile and maintain month-end checklists and electronic records, including financial statement disclosure information, in designated areas.
  • Participate in the process of improving internal controls.
  • In collaboration with the accounting team, work on the development of tools to reduce period-end closing time.
  • Participate in the automation of the accounting function with tools such as Alteryx to create efficiencies and more effective financial reporting.
  • Participate in the search for accounting software that meets our financial reporting needs.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual financial statements for group entities.
  • Review and approve reconciliations of balance sheet and inter-company accounts.
  • Work closely with auditors to provide information and clarification during internal and external audits.
  • Provide a work package to the Financial Planning and Analysis Department on a monthly basis.
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) report.
  • Assist other team members in the quarterly and annual closing process.
  • Supervise accounting clerks during their monthly, quarterly and annual closings. Ensure that financial statements are representative, fair and free of material errors and omissions.
  • Other duties that may be required.

Qualifications

  • CPA with a minimum of 3 to 4 years' relevant experience.
  • Experience in an accounting firm.
  • Knowledge of SAGE 300 (an asset).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills in French and English, including the ability to express recommendations in a concise and timely manner.
  • Excellent knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Solid experience in financial reporting.
  • Knowledge of technical and professional principles and accounting skills related to the mining industry (an asset).
  • Strong belief in ethical business conduct.
