Under the Director of Engineering Operations, the Application Software Designer will work in the development team who is responsible for designing and maintaining a portfolio of products.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with other developers, team leads and various teams to gather, curate and build applications to support product development.
  • Develop tools to ease the use of scientific and manufacturing equipment.
  • Write unit and functional tests, debug functions and document architecture and implementation.
  • Work with the team on project lifecycle, including project scope, resources, schedule, development, and deployment to ensure success.
  • Identify synergies between teams that could benefit from custom tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in software or electrical engineering or any equivalent
  • Experience in software development
  • Programming experience in C/C++, C#(.NET) and Python
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Minimal experience with a GUI design library, such as Qt, for application development
  • Fluency in French and English
  • Good level of autonomy and creativity
  • Enthusiasm in learning and applying good practices of software engineering

Asset:
  • Programming experience with embedded environments
  • Experience with Git
  • Familiarity with continuous integration tools such as DevOps’ pipelines
  • Experience with an issue tracking system like DevOps or Jira
  • Basic knowledge in integrating electronics into designs, such as microcontrollers
  • Basic knowledge of digital camera theory
