Our client is a leader in custom metal fabrication in the retail, hospitality, signage, street furniture and airport furniture industries.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, the industrial designer's main mission is to lead one or more projects in the design phase for the delivery of urban furniture structures. The proponent will act as a product owner and be accountable for the product’s constructability during the manufacturing and construction phases

• Understand and interpret customer/market requirements, then deliver innovative costeffective solutions which meet applicable functional and appearance requirement
• Lead the design phase of assigned work packages as part of a multi-functional project delivery team which includes external partners (client technical team and subcontractors)
• Effectively communicate design proposals and solutions using a variety of techniques including but not limited to sketches, renderings, Alias Models, and specification documents
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of industrial design processes
• Check, during manufacture, the concordance of parts or assemblies with the drawings and their compatibility with each other and make corrections if necessary. Validates the proposed solutions with the other departments and services involved
• Create detailed installation manuals for the use during site assembly
• Participate in the bidding process or profitability analysis activities for new projects or new business opportunities within the scope of their field of expertise

• Bachelor's degree or DEP in industrial design or equivalent
• 7+ years of relevant experience as a drafter/designer in furniture manufacturing, millwork, metal fabrications, signage displays, light civil, building construction or a related industrial background
• Bilingual written and spoken
• Experience in the development and design of signage free standing & cantilever structures (desired)
• Ability to design in both 3D and 2D software, preferably Solidworks and Autodesk
