Job description

Under the responsibility of the Head of Department - Engineering, the incumbent is responsible for planning, coordinating and supervising network modeling studies, developing within the management knowledge of water, sewer and road infrastructures as well as produce infrastructure master plans for drinking water and sewer networks as well as roadways.


As such, he develops strategies to optimize infrastructure investments with a view to managing and maintaining the assets under his direction, including the preparation of intervention plans, inventories, condition reports and inspections. , the resulting five- and ten-year plans, as well as the development of decision-making tools.


Tasks and Responsibilities

• Produce and update plans directors of aqueducts, sewers, roadways, parks and public spaces;

• Ensures the update of the plan intervention (PI) for the renewal of drinking water pipes, sewers and roadways;

• As part of the three-year immobilization program (PTI), recommends the carrying out projects from the master plans;

• Collaborates in the production and ensures the follow-up of the overflow management plan with regard to the provisions relating to the City;

• Ensures the follow-up of the regulations of the agglomeration of the City regarding the maximum flow allowed for drinking water as well as for the flows of the sanitary network;

• Coordinates simulation work on various software such as AquaGEO, SWMM etc.; 

• Analyzes the impacts on infrastructure rehabilitation and development projects and formulates recommendations;

• Analyze development requests and redevelopment provided for in the development planning of the territory of the town planning department;

• Prepare authorization requests with various ministries, public utility services or organizations concerned;

• May be called upon to participate in the design and construction of any project planned by engineering management;

• Produced cost estimates for various municipal infrastructure construction or repair projects aqueduct, sewers and roads;

• Ensures the updating of procedures, methods, standards and policies in force in its field of activity.

Qualifications

• Hold a degree in civil engineering from a recognized university and be a member of the Ordre of engineers of Québec.

• Minimum experience of five (5) years in projects related to municipal engineering;

• Experience in performing hydraulic studies and simulation with specialized software such as PCSWMM, EPANET, AQUAGÉO;

• Knowledge of geomatics as well as Office suite software;

• Minimum experience of three (3) years in hydraulic design of sewer and aqueduct networks and pavement design is an asset;

• Mastery of the French language (oral and written);

• Good leadership, good listening skills, ability to work in a team and rally people around a common goal until it is achieved;

• Innovative, imaginative, able to create new ways of doing things and manage several projects simultaneously

Work conditions

• Permanent position, 35 to 40 hours a week (finishes at 12:30 p.m. on Fridays) • Salary between $100,763 to $125,869 depending on experience
