Our client is a private company with international reach at the cutting edge of technology in the biopharmaceutical sector. He is looking for a Controller who will have to lead a team in a multi-company and multi-currency environment.

Report to the Vice-President and COO, the Controller will be in charge of the planning, the organization and the administration of the company’s accounting systems in accordance with general accounting principles and company policies. The Controller will act as a key resource person for the Vice-President and Chief Operating Officer in all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and control all accounting activities including the management and development of a team;
  • Coordinate monthly financial statements and prepare gap analysis and other relevant analyzes;
  • Supervise and carry out all the accounting operations of the group companies in a multi-currency and project accounting environment;
  • Develop and improve reports tracking budget variances, key performance indicators and develop effective reporting tools;
  • Conduct the year-end process and coordinate the activities of the external auditors;
  • Develop, update and deliver company's integrated accounting management system’s functionalities;
  • Manage and participate in special projects including the recommendation of new policies or management tools;
  • Participate in treasury management of the treasury in collaboration with the immediate superior.

Qualifications

  • BAC in accounting combined with a CPA certification;
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant accounting experience including experience in a controller role;
  • Management or supervision of a team;
  • Implementation/optimization of integrated management systems;
  • Relevant work experience in biopharmaceutical and/or service industry is an asset.
  • Very good skills in budget and financial planning (budget management, forecasts, and financial analysis);
  • Good knowledge of an enterprise resource planning system (ERP) is essential and of ACOMBA integrated management system (an asset);
  • Knowledge of tax measures related to the SR&ED tax credit program;
  • Excellent coaching, leadership and training skills;
  • Ability to show rigor, integrity, autonomy, and discretion;
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, problem-solving skills and detail-oriented;
  • Ability to deliver high-quality solutions on time;
  • Focused on performance, action, and ability to work under pressure;
  • Advanced knowledge and advanced working skills of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically MS Excel (pivot tables);
  • Proficiency in French and English (oral and written)
